Fluency

Fluency   I think fluency is one of the hardest things to teach in kindergarten.  Creating fluent readers requires practice, explicit teaching and modeling.  I have listed several anchor charts that I think would be fun to create as a class during circle time.  These charts can be hung up in the classroom and easily referred back to.  Students take ownership and pride in something they have helped create.  I think each of these charts could easily be modified for any grade level.

Phrasing was a hard concept for my level D guided reading group last year.

I talked about this in my guided reading groups last year.  This chart gives me great ideas for mini lessons and whole group lessons.  If we create a chart like this together and I model by reading a book, I think my students would be more likely to read this way.

This chart has easy symbols for kindergarten students to remember.
